Chicago Fire land ex-Southampton striker Guly

Chicago Fire have confirmed the signing of Brazilian striker Guly do Prado.

The 33-year old former Southampton attacker has joined the Fire and will officially be added to the roster upon receipt of his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

Guly, who has previously spent time with Italian clubs Fiorentina, Cesena and Perugia, will bring plenty of attacking depth to the Fire line-up according to head coach Frank Yallop.

"Guly is a versatile, attacking player," Yallop said in a team release.

"I'm pleased to add someone with his experience to strengthen our corps of attack-minded players."

Guly spent four years with Southampton prior to his release in May last year and made over 110 appearances, scoring 23 goals. He admitted he was excited about the next phase of his lengthy career.

"I'm really excited to join the Fire," do Prado added.

"After playing at the top level in the United Kingdom, I wanted to make the right decision for the next chapter of my career. After meeting with head coach Frank Yallop, I feel this is a good move and I'm looking forward to joining the club and showing the Fire fans what I'm about."
