Chesterfield chief Chris Turner is being linked with Sunderland.
The Spireites chief executive - who spent seven years as a player at Sunderland in the 1970s and 1980s - is reportedly one of the names under consideration to replace Margaret Byrne at the Stadium of Light, following her resignation last week.
"I enjoyed my time as a player at Sunderland and it is flattering to be linked with a Premier League club, but I am focused on my job with Chesterfield," said Turner to the Evening Chronicle.
Turner played alongside current Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce on Wearside in the 1980-81 season and is also a former Manchester United goalkeeper.
