Chelsea youngster Jake Clarke-Salter is hoping to emulate John Terry after being named England U21 captain.

The centre-back will lead the Young Lions during their U21 European Championships campaign, which kicks off on Tuesday night against France.

Clarke-Salter said: "I am honoured and privileged to be able to captain this talented squad.

"I am so grateful to Aidy for giving it to me. As a Chelsea player, John Terry is one of my idols.

"He is one of the captains who inspired me. When I was coming through the academy he would give me advice."
