Chelsea young gun Solanke on target as England U19 open Euros account

The England U19 team won their opening group game at the 2016 U19 European Championships on Tuesday.

Aidy Boothroyd's Young Lions edged France 2-1 in Heidenheim, Germany thanks to a goal from Chelsea striker Dom Solanke and an own-goal from Clement Michelin.

Michelin turned a Sheyi Ojo cross into the back of his own net in just the third minute before Solanke, who spent last season on loan with Vitesse Arnhem, got on the end of a through ball from the Liverpool winger to slot home between the keeper's legs for his side's second inside 10 minutes.

PSG striker Jean-Kevin Augustin pulled one back for the French in the 33rd minute with an acrobatic finish but it was not enough as England kickstarted their Group B campaign with maximum points.

England's next fixture takes place in Ulm on Friday against Holland who defeated Croatia 2-1 courtesy of a double from impressive PSV winger Steven Bergwijn.
