Chelsea are wrapping up the signing of Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina.
The teen had been identified by transfers chief Petr Cech in January before the Chelsea great was pushed out by the club's new owners.
The London Evening Standard says the 18-year-old was on Sunday morning given the go-ahead to fly to London, complete a medical and sign the paperwork on Sunday morning.
Chelsea could see Slonina join up with the squad on January 1 where his future will be assessed depending on the status of the club's other goalkeepers.
Slonina is an U20 USA international, though also qualifies for Poland.
