Chelsea will lodge offer for West Ham defender Rice this week

Chelsea want to sign Declan Rice to complete their massive summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard has already brought in six players for over £200m.

But after Saturday's 3-3 draw with West Bromwich Albion, in which they were down 3-0, Lampard wants to bolster his defence.

The London Evening Standard reports West Ham United star Rice is Lampard's priority target and a bid will be lodged before the October 5 deadline.

Hammers assistant Alan Irvine insisted on Monday that Rice was 'extremely happy' at London Stadium.

Nonetheless, the Blues will try and tempt West Ham to sell their prized asset before the window shuts.
