Chelsea veteran Caballero warns players could face pay-cuts

Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero thinks pay cuts are in the imminent future for footballers.

Many clubs around Europe and the world are losing revenue due to postponed or cancelled matches.

Even when games resume, they would be without fans, which would cut into matchday revenue.

He told TNT Sports: "The owners of the Premier League sides are like in the NBA, they're not millionaires, they're billionaires.

"They could say, 'We'll cut budgets' or they could say 'We won't cut anything' because we don't need to.

"But perhaps that will change next year in the Premier if the decision is that we have to play next season without fans.

"Some clubs including Chelsea won't be able to carry on paying the same as they are now and will have to sit down with many players like me and propose things."

When asked if he would accept cuts, he said: "Yes, it's a situation that could affect all of us, and we all have to be open to listening to the proposal."
