Chelsea turn to Kante, Rudiger about new deals after busy Friday

Chelsea are ready to open new contract talks with N'Golo Kante.

On Friday, Chelsea renewed the contracts of Olivier Giroud and veteran defender Thiago Silva for another season. Their renewals came on the same day as Thomas Tuchel's new two-year extension to his Chelsea contract was announced, with the German head coach now staying on at Stamford Bridge until 2024.

The Daily Mail says Kante, man of the match in Porto, has entered the final two years of his contract and Chelsea will seek clarity on the France international's future as a matter of urgency with a view to handing him an extension.

Getting centre back Antonio Rudiger, who is in the final year of his contract, to sign a new deal is another priority.

Tuchel has publicly expressed his desire for Rudiger to stay but, with the Germany international able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club from January, there is uncertainty over his future heading into Euro 2020.
