Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud says the Ballon d'Or should go to a Frenchman.
Giroud insists any number of his fellow World Cup winners would be deserved of the recognition.
"If I voted, it would certainly be for a Frenchman," he said.
"(Luka) Modric is one of the most serious candidates. He won the Champions League again and brought Croatia to the finals of the World Cup. But of course I am fighting for a Frenchman.
"Whether Kylian (Mbappe), Antoine (Griezmann) or Raphael (Varane), they all had a great season. They have won titles and they deserve this Ballon d'Or."
