Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is in Spain to sign with Atletico Madrid today.

Morata touched down in Madrid on Saturday and spoke with local reporters.

"I am very pleased with this step," Morata said. "I have been waiting here for days. I still have to undergo a medical examination.

"I cannot wait until everything is over, everything starts and I can train with my teammates.

"The people who know me well know how I feel, how I will feel tomorrow and how the past days have been. I am very happy. It is normal for people to have certain thoughts, but I know what to do.

"At Atlético everything started, I started playing football. Everyone knows what my history looks like and what it means to me. The past is the past and cannot be changed. But I am proud of my past."
