Olivier Giroud admits he pushed hard to leave Chelsea in January.
After being blocked by manager Frank Lampard from leaving, Giroud chose to sign new terms the following month.
The veteran has been outstanding during the Premier League's restart and he told Infosport+: "It was very hard to be honest.
"That's why I wanted to leave because I was no longer happy but the coach wanted to keep me and he gave me his confidence. I'm trying to give it back to him on the pitch and it's been going pretty well since mid-February.
"When I am the starter, I am often decisive. I don't even think about stopping for a second. As long as I can bring something more to the team, I will continue for several more years."
