Olivier Giroud is thrilled to have finally scored a goal for France in Sunday night's 2-1 win over the Netherlands.
The Chelsea striker was under pressure this summer in Russia as he failed to find the back of the net in each of the seven games Les Bleus played en route to the World Cup triumph.
However, Giroud managed to score a winner in 74th minute of the clash with the Dutch national team. It was his 32nd for the World Cup winners.
"I am full of joy," the Frenchman told RTL. "To be so supported by a crowd like that... it makes us want to fight right until the end.
"It was not easy. It's always difficult to come back as world champions, but we wanted to win our first after the World Cup at home.
"We have claimed this good point in Germany [Thursday's 0-0 draw in Munich]. We showed determination all the time until the end and that's good. We were rewarded."
