Chelsea striker Giroud: Benzema absence source of France jeers

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud says boos from France fans never unsettled him.

Giroud is now appreciated by Les Bleus supporters, who struggled to accept him during the 2018 World Cup triumph.

He recalled to Telefoot: "The whistles in the France team? It was part of a difficult time. It is a minority of course. We are not going to redo history, but I have always been criticised a little for the absence of Karim (Benzema) and of this supposed rivalry, created from scratch by a certain person.

“With Karim Benzema in the Blues? My career might have been better if we had both teamed up in front, who knows ... But we'll never know."
