Chelsea striker Giroud aims to surpass Platini

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is moving up the goalscoring rankings in France.

The veteran striker is now third on the all-time scorers' list for the French national team.

He moved ahead of David Trezeguet with his 35th goal in a win over Iceland. Now he is eyeing Michel Platini and second place.

Giroud told M6: "It's a goal. The most important thing is always collective success, I always put the collective success first.

"But it is true that on the personal level, it is necessary to be decisive.

"I hope to join Platini, we'll see."
