Chelsea striker Drogba delighted with African Player of Year nomination

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba says his row with the African Player of the Year awards are over.

In 2007, Drogba could not attend the ceremony and it was believed because of that Frederic Kanoute was named Player of the Year instead. Drogba publicly withdrew from the running for future African Football Confederation (CAF) awards.

Drogba has revealed that bridges have since been built after his nomination for this year's gong.

"That was the past," he told Chelsea TV. "We all sat down and spoke about it - Mr Hayatou (the CAF president) and the people from the Ivory Coast Federation - so I think everything is good now.

"It is a good trophy and a big honour for a player to win it, especially this year which is so special for the African continent. To win it would be very nice."
