Michy Batshuayi has admitted his motivation to leave Chelsea stemmed from his World Cup aspirations.
The 24-year-old had to settle for cup games during the first half of the season, as Blues manager Antonio Conte even elected to use Eden Hazard as a sole striker when main man Alvaro Morata was unavailable.
And with Belgium a contender at this summer's tournament, Batshuayi wanted to make sure he was at the forefront of Roberto Martinez's brain come selection time.
He told the BVB website: "In order to achieve my big objective, I want to play as much as possible and score many goals. The World Cup is taking place in the summer."
