Wolves' swoop for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham could be blocked by FIFA.
The Sun says the 21-year-old is trying to establish if Fifa recognise his August appearance for Chelsea in Premier League 2 against Derby as a competitive match, which would rule out a January move.
Players are not allowed to feature for three teams in a season and Abraham was loaned to Aston Villa after his Under-23 match.
Hatem Ben Arfa had his registration delayed at Nice four years ago in a similar case.
He joined the French club from Hull but Fifa ruled his one appearance for Newcastle Under-21s as an official match.
The France midfielder had to wait until the following season before making his debut for the new club.
Wolves are prepared to take him on a permanent deal to boost Nuno Espirito Santo's attack.
