Chelsea spy cut-price deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner

Chelsea are seeking a new striker signing in January.

The Daily Express says RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is an option as manager Frank Lampard seeks to make up for lost time having been banned from signing new players over the summer.

The 23-year-old hotshot has scored 18 goals and laid on six assists for his team-mates in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Werner is also considerably cheaper than fellow transfer targets Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace), with a £27m release clause written into the contract he signed at Leipzig in August.

Chelsea have shown interest in Moussa Dembele too, with Manchester United and Liverpool running the rule over the 23-year-old Lyon hitman as well.
