Imminent Chelsea signing Filipe Luis has explained staying silent over his wish to leave Atletico Madrid this summer. In their statement confirming the sale, Atletico referred to Luis making clear he wanted to join Chelsea at the end of last season.
"I have seen people were p***ed off because I did not speak, but I thought that if I spoke I could damage my image and especially the club," he explained.
"My decision was to only talk when it was over. I could have been wrong. But it's my decision."
On his move to Chelsea, Luis admits it's something he long wanted.
"I've always liked them. I watch a lot of the Premier League, it is a city that I love, it is a club in which it shows that people are close ... When we play against them in the Champions League, I felt good on their field and when the offer came I thought it was the ideal team to play in England."
