Andrey Santos admits he was unaware of work permit requirements after a move to Chelsea was blocked.
After being called up by Brazil for Saturday's friendly with Morocco, the 18-year-old midfielder is hoping to make his debut in Tangier.
Santos won his place in the squad through his performances with Vasco da Gama, where he is on loan having initially left to join Chelsea in January before being denied his visa to play in England.
When asked about the situation during Brazil's camp, he told reporters: “I knew I had some chances of not playing [for Chelsea].
“I was confident, but unfortunately I didn't make it. Life goes on. To be honest, I didn't know [the requirements] I needed.
“As far as I know, I need to play in Serie A and I need to go to the Under-20s World Cup. I'm pretty calm. I'm doing my best at my club to achieve my goals."
