Chelsea's Mourinho confirms interest in Benfica's Talisca

Jose Mourinho has revealed that Benfica midfielder Talisca would be at Chelsea if the player had obtained a UK working visa in the summer.

The 20-year old Brazilian was a target for the Blues recently but instead moved to Portugal from homeland club Bahia because the permit he needed to come to England was not sorted.

Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea is keen on Talisca and indicated that he would be at Stamford Bridge if the club could have completed the necessary paperwork before sending him out on loan.

"I think Benfica hired well. They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he's only not playing in England because he doesn't have a work permit," Mourinho told Portuguese broadcaster TVI24.

"If he had one, he would be here.

"There were many English teams, great teams and important, that wanted him. Moreover, there were those who wanted to sign him, even though he could not play for now.

"They wanted to sign him, put him in a minor league [on loan] and hope that eventually he came to be selected [for Brazil's national team], and would consequently then get the work permit."

Brazil U20 ace Talisca marked his arrival at Benfica with a hat-trick against Vitoria Setubal on the weekend in just his fourth appearance for the Eagles.
