Chelsea's Cahill: England squad have superb team spirit

England defender Gary Cahill believes Roy Hodgson's Euro 2016 squad is the strongest he's played in.

Cahill was first called up by Fabio Capello seven years ago but the Chelsea defender insisted he has never seen a group as good as the one selected by Roy Hodgson.

He said: "I certainly think this is the best England set-up I have been involved in. That is purely down to the lads all-knowing each other.

"We have players not just from the same League teams, but players who have also played together before for the England Under-21s. There are groups of players who have grown up together.

"Even the more senior players like myself, James Milner and Joe Hart, we played together at Under-21 level. That's come through in our performances.

"There are no egos in the group — there is no one thinking that they're the superstar. That has been a key part in our success.

"It is a record-breaking squad. We won all 10 games in qualifying and we were the first England squad to do that. We also kept five successive clean sheets, which tied another record."
