Chelsea risk 'running down' Nathan Ake clause

Chelsea will only seek to buy-back Nathan Ake from Bournemouth if Andreas Christensen asks away this month.

Ake has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, where he played from 2011-2017, with the Blues having a £40million buy-back option on the Dutch international.

But The Sun reports a move for Ake will not materialise unless Christensen is sold by Chelsea and manager Frank Lampard confirmed a January exit was out of the question.

Ake, 24, moved to the south coast in 2017 from Chelsea in a £20million move, but the Blues have first refusal on signing the centre back.

Yet that option is due to expire in the summer, meaning manger Frank Lampard might miss out on Ake if he opts not to pursue a deal before the transfer window shuts on January 31.
