Chelsea ready to discuss Havertz fee with Bayer Leverkusen

Chelsea are ready to open talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a fee for Kai Havertz.

Chelsea's chances of landing the 21-year-old this summer were boosted by Leverkusen missing out on Champions League qualification, although they could still face competition for the player.

Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira reports the Blues are already in talks with Havertz's agent and will now imminently attempt to negotiate a fee with Leverkusen themselves.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has already added striker Timo Werner and Ajax forward Hakim Ziyech to his ranks for a combined initial fee of £83.5m.

And it seems he views Havertz as the final piece in his attacking jigsaw, which is already featuring Christian Pulisic showing sublime form post-coronavirus suspension.

But Bayer Leverkusen are determined to get top dollar for their prize asset, with the club's former CEO Reiner Calmund claiming they will demand a fee of around £90.3m for the midfielder, reports the Daily Star.
