Chelsea players and Conte 'disappointed Emenalo has gone'

Chelsea's players and manager Antonio Conte are disappointed by the departure of technical director Michael Emenalo, it has been claimed.

The Nigerian resigned from his position last week.

Ian McGarry, former chief football writer for The Sun and the Daily Mail, told the Transfer Window Podcast Emenalo's status inside the locker room was understated.

“I've heard the players and Conte are disappointed that Emenalo has gone," he said.

“Just a little detail worth noting, if you look at any Chelsea match, Emenalo is unusual in that he sits direct behind the bench and every game.

“He's there listening, talking, taking in what happens in every single match never mind at the training ground.

“He'll be a miss for the club.

“Whoever comes in won't have the same authority Emenalo built up, they'll effectivley be a yes man to (director Marina) Granovskia."
