Chelsea plan bid for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner

Chelsea are lining up a bid for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The Daily Express says Chelsea have him in their sights as they plot a £150m spend next month.

Chelsea are relying on goals from Tammy Abraham with Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi struggling.

Abraham has 11 in 17 league games with Chelsea in fourth place in the league but manger Frank Lampard knows he needs other options with Olivier Giroud expected to depart.

Interest in Werner also comes in part due to his relative low release clause of £27m. He signed a new deal at Leipzig in August which Kicker reported saw his clause cut to €30m.

However with Leipzig flying high in Germany he may want to see the season out.
