Roman Abramovich has made one promise to Frank Lampard as he prepares to takeover as Chelsea manager.
Derby have given Lampard permission to speak with his former club about replacing Maurizio Sarri.
He will reportedly receive a three-year deal worth £12m and will be joined by Derby assistant and former Chelsea academy boss Jody Morris.
With the club set to be unable to sign any players for one year, Abramovich has assured Lampard he will have at least the 2019/20 campaign to manage the club.
The Russian billionaire has sacked 11 managers since buying Chelsea in 2004, but believes Lampard needs to be given time due to the 'unique situation' which the club find themselves in, according to The Telegraph.
The 41-year-old will have to rely on getting the best out of the current squad and the raft of loan players expected to arrive back at Stamford Bridge.
