Chelsea have opened new contract talks with Olivier Giroud.
Giroud could be set to stay at Chelsea a little longer after opening preliminary negotiations over a new contract, says Football.London.
For much of the season, Giroud had been playing second fiddle to Tammy Abraham under Frank Lampard and he was expected to be let go this summer with his contract expiring in June.
However, the Frenchman has recently turned his fortunes around and has impressed in the place of the injured Abraham up top at Stamford Bridge.
Talks have begun to see if an extension can be found past this summer - when his current deal runs out.
