Chelsea not giving up on West Ham midfielder Rice

Chelsea are still pursuing a move for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

The Englishman is the one manager Frank Lampard wants to play defensive midfield for the team for years to come.

While the Hammers do not want to sell, and the Blues spent a lot of money in the summer, Goal.com reveals Rice is a long term target.

A January move is unlikely, given he has a contract until 2024 at West Ham.

But a summer move is possible, especially if the Blues have a very good season.

They could also sell players to make room for Rice financially, with the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Fikayo Tomori and Antonio Rudiger all on the market for loans or sales.
