Manchester United are unlikely to recruit Michael Edwards as their sporting director.
Edwards has left Liverpool after his recruitment success at Anfield.
Chelsea and United have both been linked with the 43-year-old.
However, the Manchester Evening Newsreports that the Red Devils are not interested in Edwards and he is more likely to join Chelsea.
United have made it clear that John Murtough is now in charge of football operations.
MEN quotes a United source saying that when it comes to the club's footballing department, Murtough is "running the show".
Chelsea are without a sporting director following the departure of the well-respected Marina Granovskaia.
