Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Charly Musonda admits his move from Chelsea almost didn't happen.

The Belgian joined Vitesse in the final hours of the summer market on Friday.

"I said yes and then had to rush to Stamford Bridge to sign. I live an hour from the stadium. It was a race against the clock, yes, by car through London," Musonda told De Gelderlander.

"Vitesse has shown interest for three years. I was honoured, but I chose other adventures. Now it has happened. And I'm happy.

"I remember the Oranje. The 2008 European Championship especially. Fantastic, beautiful football. The Netherlands and Spain were leading in the world in my youth. Football was also nice at that level."
