Chelsea midfielder Loftus-Cheek: I'll take my time to come back

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek says he won't rush his playing return.

Loftus-Cheek has recently put pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge, and with the return of Frank Lampard as manager, it's likely that he will be given an extended run in the team.

The 2018-19 season didn't end the way that the Englishman had hoped after he picked up an Achilles injury during a friendly in the USA which kept him out of the Europa League final.

However, speaking to the official Chelsea website, he has given an update on his fitness.

"It's going really well,' he stated. 'I've started walking now, and a lot of the rehab is just about trying to strengthen up my muscles again, get strong enough to run and progress that way. It's feeling really good, but I'll take my time and make sure it's right for when I come back."
