Ross Barkley has admitted there were days when he doubted his ability to return to football.
When Barkley broke is leg with Everton, the injury was so serious that his career was in jeopardy.
But now he is fitter and stronger than ever, grabbing a starting spot with both Chelsea and England in recent weeks.
"I broke my leg in three places," he said to football.london.
"The doctor said I'd never play again. I was devastated.
"At the time I was emotional and crying and my mum told me not to quit and said that I'd come back stronger. It wasn't easy. Every day I was off the field it hurt me more.
"But all the lads supported me. The day I took to the field again, I'll never forget that feeling. The supporters calling my name. Now I get to play for my country.
"It's a dream come true, but nobody achieves their dreams alone. It took a lot of support to get me where I am now and that's made all the difference."
