Chelsea manager Lampard makes promise to Giroud after Rennes goal

Frank Lampard insists Olivier Giroud will get minutes this season after the Frenchman scored the winner against Rennes on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old admitted over the international break that he would consider leaving Chelsea in January after falling behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham.

But that didn't stop Giroud doing his job with the scores tied at 1-1 on Tuesday, and Lampard has promised the veteran he will get more chances.

"(Giroud) does things like he did tonight," Lampard said. "That was great from him... Not only that, but his hold-up play as well.

"[With Giroud and Abraham] I have two players in a similar position who are playing well, that is a good problem to have. But Oli will get his minutes."
