Chelsea manager Frank Lampard says N'Golo Kante is in doubt for Wednesday's European Super Cup final after he picked up a knock in the loss to Manchester United.

Kante came on as a substitute in the 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford as he was still recovering from a knee injury.

And Lampard has revealed the World Cup winner picked up another injury during the match.

"The selection of Kante on the bench was purely because he's had an injury in pre-season and missed a big part, so he wasn't ready for the game," Lampard said.

"I'm very aware of how important he is for us as a player. 'He actually picked up another small injury in the game, which is always a danger when you're trying to bring players back, so we're assessing that for tomorrow and I have to make a decision with him this evening."
