Chelsea management want Gianfranco Zola to stay.
The assistant manager comes off contract in June and is in limbo with Maurizio Sarri now leaving for Juventus.
However, the Daily Mail says Chelsea are keen for Zola to stay at the club, though the final decision will be left to the new boss.
And Derby will not stand in Frank Lampard's way, provided Chelsea are respectful in their pursuit and pay £4million compensation.
Lampard will bring Chelsea academy graduate Jody Morris and former coach Chris Jones with him from Derby.
