Chelsea and Manchester United are ready for a summer transfer war over Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen.

The Sunday Express says both clubs have been boosted by the news that Real Madrid are ready to ditch their interest over fears that the Danish international will cost them too much.

The Premier League giants still face interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for Eriksen, who has been unable to agree a new deal with Spurs.

The White Hart Lane side have been in talks with his representatives for more than a year in a bid to extend his £75,000-a-week contract, that runs out in June 2020, without success.

Eriksen, now well behind the two highest-paid players at the club, Dele Alli and Harry Kane, is happy living in London, which could give Chelsea an edge in the race for his signature.
