Chelsea and Man City watching cut-price Lens winger Jonathan Clauss

Lens winger Jonathan Clauss is attracting major Premier League interest.

Kicker via Fussball Transfers says Manchester City and Chelsea have been watching the 28 year-old's progress this season, where he has displayed career best form with Lens.

The Frenchman only moved to Lens last summer from Germany's Arminia Bielefeld. The midfielder has a deal with Lens to 2023 and is available for €6-10m.

In 32 Ligue 1 games Clauss has three goals and produced six assists this term.

Primarily a winger, Clauss can also play in a defensive role and has shone for Lens this season, helping them to sixth on the Ligue 1 table with one game of the campaign to play.

Arminia plucked Clauss from Ligue 2 minnows Quevilly-Rouen in 2018 and he quickly established himself as a first-choice with the Germans before returning home to Lens last summer as a free agent.

While the interest of City and Chelsea is a surprise, Clauss' versatility could be attractive to both Premier League giants.
