Chelsea loanee Saul Niguez hoping for new opening after international break

Chelsea loanee Saul Niguez will use the international break to win over manager Thomas Tuchel.

The 26-year-old had fallen down the pecking order under Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone and signed for Chelsea on a temporary basis in summer with the Blues having the option to buy him outright for a fee of around £30million at the end of the season.

But the Spain international has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea, making just one substitute appearance since his dismal first-half debut against Aston Villa.

But, despite becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation, Saul is eager to stay and fight for his place, says The Telegraph.

The midfielder is understood to have settled into life in England well and gets along with his Chelsea team-mates, in particular his countrymen captain Cesar Azpilicueta, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Marcos Alonso.

Saul could look to follow in the footsteps of Kepa and Ross Barkley who have been brought in from the cold by Tuchel.

The Chelsea boss has assured Saul that he will get chances and, with the Blues still in all three domestic competitions and the Champions League and Mateo Kovacic sidelined, his opportunity could arise after the international break.
