Chelsea are chasing Porto midfielder Fernando.

While Hulk, Radamel Falcao and Rolando have all been linked with Chelsea, Fernando is emerging as Andre Villas-Boas' first signing from his former club, according to Sky Italia.

Fernando would arrive as competition for Frank Lampard and Michael Essien and introduce new energy to an aging midfield.

Fernando has also been a long-term target for AC Milan and Inter Milan.
