Chelsea legend Tambling: I loved playing Arsenal!

Chelsea legend Bobby Tambling has said that he loved playing against London neighbours Arsenal during his playing days.

Tambling enjoyed a good goalscoring record against the North London club and scored all four goals in a 4-2 win over the Gunners at Highbury Stadium during the 1963/64 season.

He was speaking at Stamford Bridge at the release of his autobiography 'Goals in Life'.

"The ground was very heavy with a lot of mud but we went out and beat them 4-2 with all of the goals scored by me," Tambling said.

"I loved the mud, but I loved playing against Arsenal more. My record against them was brilliant on an individual level, obviously aided by those four goals, but as a team we barely lost during my time at Chelsea. We usually got some pretty good crowds for matches against them and it was always a good atmosphere.

"Highbury was a super stadium, well in advance of most others in country, and getting good results there as we did back then always made it easier to go to."

Chelsea will face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
