The Mirror says Lampard is in pole position to get the Derby job.
England legend Lampard has been interviewed, and is the leading candidate to succeed Gary Rowett after his departure for Stoke.
Lampard, who has gained a reputation as a top TV pundit, has been doing his coaching badges and has had interest from Ipswich and Oxford.
But is now interested in Derby and the Championship club are expected to make a decision next week.
Former Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has also been in the frame for Derby with the club saying they have been overwhelmed with potential candidates.
