Chelsea leading Leicester in race to land Barcelona midfielder Coutinho

Chelsea are leading Leicester City in the race to land Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho this summer.

Sport says Leicester, however, are desperate to sign the Brazilian and view him as a "big statement".

The Brazilian is on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Bundesliga side will not pay to keep him permanently.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers managed Coutinho at Anfield and wants to work with him again, but knows it will be difficult.

Chelsea are still keen to sign him, however.

The same report claims that Frank Lampard's side are leading the way for the Barcelona star's signature.

The Blues are still on the hunt for a new attacker to replace Eden Hazard, who joined Real Madrid last summer, and Coutinho could be the perfect like-for-like replacement.
