Borussia Mönchengladbach have distanced themselves from a move for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
Christensen has not played a single minute of Premier League football under Maurizio Sarri this season. This prompted his father and agent, Sten, to state on Friday that the 22-year-old would look to leave Stamford Bridge in January if the circumstances did not change.
The Denmark international spent two successful seasons on loan at Gladbach before returning to star under Antonio Conte last season, where he made 40 appearances for the Blues.
But Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl says the Bundesliga club do not need a centre back and suggested Chelsea's asking price would be too high if they were interested.
"We've got an outstanding relationship with Andreas, but the topic is not currently on," Eberl told Sky Sports Germany. "We've got a top central defensive partnership, with Mathias Ginter and Nico Elvedi.
"Although we have some money to spend, I've heard that Chelsea will only sell Andreas if they allow him to leave, and the amount they will ask for is very large."
