Chelsea chiefs will use their time away in the USA to secure five senior players to new contracts.

The Daily Star Sunday says the Blues are "confident" Drogba, Joe Cole, Ashley Cole, Florent Malouda and John Obi Mikel will all sign new deals.

A club spokesman said: "Florent Malouda has already agreed terms and Mikel is also very close.

"Drogba has been offered a new contract and we hope he will sign before the start of the season. The same goes for Joe Cole and Ashley Cole."

Drogba, who has appeared happy and relaxed under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, said: "I feel good.

"Fingers crossed I can avoid injury this season."
