Chelsea hero Claude Makelele has urged fans to be patient with N'Golo Kante.

The midfielder has been criticised after Chelsea managed just one point from two games last week.

Makelele insists Kante just needs time to settle before fans see his best: "It is a position where it is difficult to play.

"He must be a leader. He must work with his teammates in midfield.

"I like N'Golo Kanté, but is he better than me in this? I do not know. He still needs time to fully learn the job, to learn about football. He is a young player I really like, and I hope he will be better at what I was not."
