Chelsea star Eden Hazard was grateful to teammate Frank Lampard after he gave up his spot-kick on the weekend.
Hazard had scored twice when the Blues were awarded a penalty just after the hour-mark of their eventual 3-0 home win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
Veteran Lampard, the usual penalty-taker, was quick to offer the ball to Hazard to ensure his hat-trick and the gesture was greatly appreciated by the Belgian who was able to easily slot past Magpies keeper Tim Krul.
"It's a good present. Without the team I'm nothing," he said.
"I just want to say thank you. Thank you, Lamps, for the penalty, because normally it's for him. I just said 'if you want it, take it, I don't care'. He said 'no, no'."
Hazard opened the scoring in the 27th minute when he fired home a brilliant first-time effort from Branislav Ivanovic's low cross before adding a second seven minutes later when playing a spectacular one-two with Samuel Eto'o before slotting past Krul.
