Chelsea had enough chances but Mourinho not pointing the finger

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho refused to point fingers at any individual for the defeat to FC Porto on Tuesday night.

The Blues were beaten 2-1 by the Portuguese side but instead of condemn his team, Mourinho praised the players for the reaction they showed after conceding a goal in the second half.

Mourinho was particularly critical of the Blues' defending on Porto's second goal, scored by Maicon from a corner-kick, but felt enough chances were created to counter that shortcoming.

"The basic thing in football to work is a defensive set play," Mourinho said.

"To concede the second goal was like (there was) ice in the players, but they react and they react in a positive way.

"Diego (Costa) hit the post, (Branislav) Ivanovic had a chance with an open goal, one metre from the goal, the last minute situation, a clear penalty.

"I don't think my players deserve me to be critical of them, apart from the two mistakes that are difficult to accept.

"I'm not going to point the finger to one or to another. The two mistakes that cost us the game, a game that was fantastic."
