Chelsea great Wise: Difficult seeing Willian leave, but the contract...

Chelsea great Dennis Wise hopes if Willian is to leave - that he moves abroad.

Willian's contract at Chelsea expires at the end of the season and the west London club are not prepared to offer the 31-year-old the three-year contract he desires. That has led to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United being linked with a free transfer move for the winger.

Wise told Stadium Astro: "Well I wouldn't want him to go to any of them, I've got to say that because it would be competition for Chelsea.

"Go to Italy please Willian, go away.

"He would be a fit for anyone, at Arsenal and teams like that, I think he'd be a wonderful fit for them.

"That's the sad thing about it that we'll let him go to an opposition that wants to compete and we have to replace him."

Wise would love him to stay at Stamford Bridge but cannot see his old side changing their mind and giving the player the contract he wants.

"I would love Chelsea to keep him but I think Chelsea look at this point of view of his age, I think that comes into the equation," Wise added.

"They look at the age of him, yes they would probably extend it by a year, they probably won't give him three.

"And this is why he's probably got an opportunity elsewhere to take a longer contract. It will be disappointing because I've got to say, he's had some wonderful years at Chelsea and he's a quality player.

"He's still got so much ability to give. It will be sad to see him go."
