Chelsea fullback Reece James suffers major ankle injury

Chelsea fullback Reece James has suffered an ankle injury on U20 World Cup duty.

James was stretchered off while playing for England on Friday night.

On the same night that Eden Hazard completed his long-awaited move to Real Madrid, the young right-back suffered a suspected broken ankle.

The club have high hopes for the 19-year-old after an impressive season on loan at Wigan in the Championship.

The defender was given oxygen on the pitch before being stretchered from the field after a little over half an hour played.

England's young side were playing Chile Under-23s. Joe Willock's opener was cancelled out by Ignacio Jara in the 87th minute before Marc Guehi put through his own net in the 92nd minute to hand the South Americans victory.
